Drew Rosenhaus Must Know 'Plax' Doesn't Have A Case
Drew Rosenhaus was interviewed by Tony Kornheiser and Mike Tirico at halftime of Monday Night Football last night regarding the future of Plaxico Burress with the New York Giants.
Rosenhaus became a household name when he and Terrell Owens made a public mockery of his client's relationship with his employer the Philadelphia Eagles. Rosenhaus continually and publicly accused the Eagles of playing hardball for not giving Owens a new contract even though he had signed a 7 year deal one year prior.
Now, Rosenhaus is approaching the Plaxico situation with much humility. He made reference to the wonderful folks in the Giants front office multiple times in hopes that they won't end Plaxico's playing career as quickly as it appears the law will.
The super agent did say, however, that Burress will be in the stadium today, as required by the team.
"Oh yes," Rosenhaus said. "Yes. I talked to him about that today. He's looking forward to seeing the Giants. The Giants as an organization have been remarkably faithful and loyal to Plax throughout his career there."
Definition of "remarkably faithful" - Fining a player 40-50 times over the span of approximately 50 games and reworking a contract that had 3 years remaining on it.
Rosenhaus also expressed gratitude to the Giants' front office for not even discussing Burress' contract status when he met with them prior to the Sunday's victory against the Washington Redskins.
It appears to me that Rosenhaus is in full damage-control mode. He understands what the Giants support would mean and he understands the importance of painting Plaxico as a victim of "one isolated incident" as his agent Benjamin Brafman described the situation.
