Larsen Goes Both Ways For The Broncos

FB/LB Spencer Larsen started at MLB for the Denver Broncos and moonlighted as a fullback while on offense.  "Leatherhead" Larsen reminded many folks of how football used to be played.

You'll hear plenty of folks referencing Larsen's feat and reflecting back on the old days.

"Football players aren't as tough these days."  You're kidding, right, you'll say.  Football players are investments these days.  It's a business. The players are their products.  Management should do anything possible to keep them out of harm's way even if that means the older generation calls them pansies.

"Players were better athletes back then.  They regularly played both ways."  Terrible argument.  Athletes today are bigger, stronger and faster than anyone the 1950s era fielded.  The game is played at a higher level right now.  The fact of the matter is any game between the 1950s era and today's era wouldn't even be a contest.

"Back then there were plenty more incidents of falsely accused homosexuality with ambiguous titles like the one at the top of this page."  Absolutely correct.
