Catching Up With The NFL's Suspended List

Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings met with the folks in the Commissioner's office today regarding a questionable hit on the Texans Matt Schaub that knocked him out of the game (and the next one) according to the NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

(The context is important in this one.  Allen was already fined $25,000 for hitting a quarterback low this season.  He was told at the time that the next fine could be as high as $50,000 coupled with a one-game suspension.)

Next, the Saints players accused of taking a product that contained Bumetanide which is banned by the NFL's list of outlawed substances, have appealed the charges.  Prominent players that are vital to the Saints success down the stretch like Deuce McAlister, Will Smith and Charles Grant may be lost for a four game stretch.

In addition, Pat and Kevin Williams, the duo that comprise the Williams Wall on the defensive line in Minnesota, are also facing four game suspensions for using the same product the Saints players were.

Now, to be fair, Grady Jackson of the Atlanta Falcons (also on the list) joined a class action suit against StarCaps, the manufacturer of the product.

In addition to the steroid suspensions, the NFL is expected to rule on the fate of Pacman Jones this week.  Commissioner Goodell suspended him four games "at least" following his latest brush up with the law.
